‘Freedom?’- Karan Kimothi’s views on ‘India and Independence’
The ATKT.in Cypher is an exclusive community of some of our favourite artists and talent across categories of artforms.
For the first theme of August, here’s the submission of Karan Kimothi from Ramjas College Delhi, a member of the ATKT.in (Writers) Cypher on the topic – ‘India and Independence- what it means to you, personally in today’s day and age’.
Meet Aman. Aman is my best friend.
Meet Aman. Aman likes men.
His parents. They do not know.
He hides it. It does not show
But Aman, it kills him every day.
And Aman, I don’t know what to say
To you, when I see your face.
You ask, what is my place?
Aman, be not so grim.
Aman, life’s not so dim.
And freedom, you might not have it
But it is only a matter of time.
So, Aman. Put down that rope.
Aman, do have some hope.
I know if we work for it systematically
You’ll be happy automatically.
Are you still listening?
