The Jai Hind College Girls Who Stole Our Hearts
Do you know that feeling after a performance that leaves you yelling ‘once more’ on the top of your lungs? Well, true talent deserves a hundred spotlights and ATKT.in’s #TOTW pick proves just that. We were first blown away by Shristi Shah, Rashmi Joshi and Vedika Agarwal of Jai Hind College in July at Polaris, Wilson College’s Media Fest & since then, they’ve been our returning favorite at EVERY. DAMN. FESTIVAL.
Watch them dancing against the team of SIES Sion at Polaris – where they won the street dance battle.
Then we spotted this team at Paparazzi, the Media Fest of Mithibai College in Mumbai, where they blew our minds away, and is sure to have the same effect on you.
In September we crossed paths again at Kaleidoscope Festival at Sophia College for Women. The ATKT.in Talent Tent at Kaleidoscope brought together college artists and talent to perform for the attendees of the festival and it was no surprise when the crowd gathered to watch them dance.
Talk about under-age over-achievers, right? We were so stunned by their amazing talent that we even got them to share their stories exclusively with ATKT.in. Here’s their first ever interview.
Rashmi, a trained gymnast began her journey of contemporary and street dance when she met her team members in college. While Shristi has been a student of the Shaimak Davar Institute of Performing Arts trained in hip-hop, salsa and jive, Vedika brings in the ballet, Indian Classical and contemporary experience she gained at Terrence Lewis’ Dance Company. The talented trio not only performs but even teams up to choreograph all the competitive dance routines for Jai Hind College students.
Watch out for this crew coming back to take the stage by storm at Jai Hind College’s Media Festival, Detour, this January. Stay tuned on ATKT.in for more updates.
