Jamia Millia Islamia is a public central university located in Delhi. It was established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India during British rule in 1920 and became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. This university was established by nationalist Muslim leaders and has its campus located in South Delhi. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of law, engineering, humanities, sciences and commerce.
The University hosts a number of inter-collegiate festivals and activities to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent. The annual cultural festival, Miraas is a three-day affair that invites participation from a large number of students from colleges in the city. Competitive events such as Debate, Indian and Western Music, Dramatics, Folk Dance, Management Games, Literary and Fine Arts events are held during this extravaganza.
