Mount Carmel College Bangalore

Mount Carmel College for women, formed in the year 1944 in Trichur, is owned and run by the congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (under the title of Carmel College in the State of Cochin) affiliated to Madras University. It was transferred to Bangalore in 1948 to meet the demand for women education which was increasing rapidly. Thus began the story of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore on the 7th of July 1948 with just 50 students.

Today, Mount Carmel College is one of the premier colleges for women in the country. It encourages its students to participate in a number of activities outside the academic sphere, and promotes a number of festivals. The college is also a member of 29 clubs and associations that conduct several events and competitions across the year. Some of the college festivals are Carpediem, a national level management fest; Cross Currents, of the Commerce department, which sees participation from over 25 colleges on an average and Cul Ah, the cultural fest which brings together a number of talented students to participate and compete with each other.
