Whether it’s a weekday or a weekend, it’s always time for good music. Believing in just that, we got you Neerad- the star pianist’s story last week and this time round, we’re back with yet another star musician who took us on a magical journey through his performance.
Meet Nalin Vinayak, a second-year B.Com. student of the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce who blew our minds away with this electrifying guitar performance at Pulse, the cultural festival of AIIMS – All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi in September last year.
Nalin started learning the guitar almost nine years back, when he was just 11-years old. He started performing on stage very recently though, over a year and a half ago and launched his own live project called Nalin Onstage in December 2016 through which he has delivered 6 successful live shows in Delhi till date.
“For me, performing on stage was always nerve wrecking and not exciting till about a year ago. After I started writing my own music, it became a pleasure to be on stage and present it. It was no longer about competing or winning but it was just me interacting with the crowd, telling them a story through something I wrote. So, what inspires me to be on stage is that feeling of expression. I’m generally an introverted boy and being on stage to present my songs is a very nice social experience for me,” he says.
An aspiring composer, Nalin wishes to make as much music as he can in his lifetime. “Whether it is for films or for a band, for my own projects or collaborative ones, all I want to do is make music,” he comments.
Nalin has given a number of students the pleasure of hearing him perform at fests such as IIT Delhi’s Rendezvous, LSR’s Tarang, NSIT’s Moksha and AIIMS’ Pulse. He was also an integral member at both the ATKT Delhi Talent Tents – at Hindu College’s Mecca as well as Qafila’s. (Performance videos from which will be out soon!)
Nalin describes himself as currently being on a ‘composing spree’.
“I’m working on several songs for an album which I will be recording soon so while there are no shows lined up in the near future, a number of shows are expected in July and August though!” says the artist.
Stay tuned for all the exciting updates!
