Nadine Gracias Makes Delicious Illustrations. Take A Look!

Nadine, a third year student at Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, sent in her art profile to us on Shortlist, and honestly, we’ve been thinking about it for far too long. Here’s why.

Nadine loves three things: illustrating, graphic design, and baking. So, designing and authoring her own recipe book came naturally to her.

nadineThe Visual Communication and Strategic Branding student from Goa, as a child, would watch her mother paint glass, and her curiosity made her attend art workshops. Her first ever artwork was for a school competition, for which she won the first place. This encouraged Nadine to participate in more competitions, eventually leading her to take up the responsibility of designing the documentation book, copies of which were distributed to the artists and designers that attended her college’s ‘Srishti Live’ festival. She says, “Art was not a decision I made, it came to me naturally.”

Her parents always encouraged her to take up design as a career, even nadinethough in India people are still skeptical of doing so—art and design is not really considered much of a career option.

Nadine is inspired by artists like Pranita Kocharekar and Alicia Souza. “Their process of converting thoughts and day to day situations into art and illustrations have always inspired me,” she says, adding that she aspires to be an illustrator and graphic designer in the near future.
