Check Out This Week’s Top 3 Instrumental Performances
With the likes of Bismillah Khan, Shivkumar Sharma, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, we have grown up midst the revolution of instrumental music. The revolution isn’t limited to stalwarts, though, as our college-going musicians prove to you. Take a look at some of our favourites.
Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi
This performance by Rudhresh M. was an instant favourite when we received it on Shortlist (where you, too, can submit your entry). Hailing from Sri Venkateswara College Delhi, Rudhresh has been intrigued by the mridangam since he can remember. The musician is a part of Alaap, the Indian Music Society of his college.
Garima Jha from Ramjas College is our new favourite. Her original composition on ‘Raag Bhairvi’ on the veena follows the theme ‘Good Triumphs Over Evil’, as a part of her Cypher journey.
Rishabh Puri and Biraj Taneja
Rishabh and Biraj from Sri Venkateswara College in Delhi combine the flute with the keyboard in their original composition, ‘From Serenity to Madness’. They performed this piece at IIT Delhi’s annual fest, Rendezvous 2017.
