VIT Vellore

Popularly known as VIT, the Vellore Engineering College is an Indian institute of higher education founded in 1984, as Vellore Engineering College, by G. Viswanathan. The institution offers 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, four integrated and four research programs. VIT has a lush green campus which spreads over 250 acres which resembles a city, with a lake, gardens, lawns, residential complexes, food courts, hair salons and wide roads along with its own water supply & shopping complexes to cater to the needs of the staff as well as students. There are separate men and women hostels with a capacity of 15,000 and 3,500 respectively. VIT has two main college fests: Gravitas and Riviera.

Gravitas is a tech-fest which is organized and executed in the month of August/September. Riviera, on the other hand is a cultural festival that pulls over more than 300 students from 20 different institutions with celebrities visiting on a regular basis. This engaging festival is celebrated with much pomp and galore in the month of February every year. With a busting crowd of over 20,000 students parading this fest in a span of 3 days, any geek would want to attend this college festival at least once.
