‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’ Cover takes you through the journey of Abhishek Jhawar, a talented singer, and student at A. R. Rahman’s music school, KM College of Music & Technology. Also featured is his latest cover and international collaboration, ‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’.

Abhishek Jhawar’s journey began in school, when his friends urged him to participate in competitions, after hearing him sing. With time, his passion for music grew. More recently, he covered the song ‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’, which has, so far, received immense love from all over the world.

When Abhishek realised his dream to music music his career, he enrolled himself for a month-long summer course at music director A. R. Rahman’s KM College of Music and Technology, Chennai. Along with the course, he is pursuing his bachelors degree in commerce in computer application at Tirpude College of Management in his hometown, Nagpur. About his time at the esteemed music college, he says: “What really cemented my decision was the kind of atmosphere at the college — students jamming, letting themselves go with the music.” While his parents, who are not musically inclined, initially objected to his career choices, Abhishek says they couldn’t be happier today.

He is inspired by his parents’ motivation, but in the industry, he looks up to musicians like R. D. Burman, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, Eric Clapton, his guru Pandit Prabhakar Karekar ji, and his mentor A. R. Rahman. He wishes to start a band in the near future to work towards producing independent music.

He has performed with A. R. Rahman at his Kawwali concerts in Chennai, and at the Indian Youth Conclave, Lit Up, Agora – The Flea Market. He has also travelled with his music to cities like Nagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Yavatmal, Pune, and Hyderabad amongst others, with his Nagpur-based band.

He concludes the interview with this: “It’s very difficult for a singer to fulfil his dreams here in India, but people like ( are really helping us out.”
