Lyrical Dance Routine
Jugal Royal, a first year student of MBA at Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Paschim Vihar, Delhi, sent us his dance cover of ‘Saiyaan’ from Agneepath for the ATKT.in Shortlist. We talk to the dancer about his journey as a lyrical hip hop dancer.
Inspired largely by Michael Jackson, Jugal’s passion for dance started when he was merely 10 years old. He progressed to dancing solo only about 6 years ago, during which he was featured on MTV Colors of Youth, Sahara Samay Live, Aajtak, and was invited as a guest of honour by the Parek Samaj.
Jugal aspires to become a good choreographer in the field of lyrical dance, because he believes that there are less dancers truly connecting to that form. “The meaning of lyrical dance isn’t clear to all, which I want to show. The level and the feel lyrical dance can give is a next level thing.”
Catch him perform at IIT Mumbai’s annual cultural fest, Mood Indigo, next month!
